Simple, easy to apply, wet chemical coating solutions via sol-gel chemistry together with Nanotechnology is the essence of the research leading to the creation of these unique, functional coatings defined as Sol-Gel Nanocomposites.

Sol-Gel Nanocomposites represent an unique class of sol-gel materials due to the advantage of their synthetic preparation route of introducing inorganic functionality starting from molecular precursors. This leads to the opportunity of creating novel hybrid materials with both organic and inorganic functionality on the smallest feasible scale. The benefits of the sol-gel process, which include mild reaction conditions, control over the structure and kinetics of reactions by varying reaction conditions, and the endless combination of available precursors, allows for the creation of an infinite range of materials and properties.
